Last weekend, I visited the GDT International Nature Photography Festival in Lünen, Germany. The lecture programme on Saturday and Sunday features presentations by several of the biggest names in nature photography. I try to visit the festival every year, as it is very inspirational to see the work of other photographers and have a chat with them between lectures.
Also part of the festival is an exhibition of the winners of the European Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. I am both happy and honored to be part of the exhibition for the second year in a row.
My photograph ‘Inky Vik’, shot in Iceland last March, was awarded Highly Commended in the landscape category. The same image reached the final round of judging at the Veolia Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards, but unfortunately was not among the awarded images.
As usual, there were many Dutch photographers among the winners. Congrats to Edwin Giesbers, Misja Smits, Jasper Doest, Jan van der Greef, Theo Bosboom and Martin van Lokven. All winning images will appear on the GDT website soon. Make sure to check them out and be inspired. Again, the overall winner is a completely different take on a common subject and behavior. Fantastic.

Hoi Marijn,
Allereerst gefeliciteerd hiermee uiteraard.
Dan even dit. Ging via jouw link naar GDT en zag jouw foto daar nogmaals maar daar is hij wat lichter en vond ik hem direct ook net even wat aansprekender, dus wellicht moet je ‘m op je eigen blog even iets oplichten?
Fraai sfeervol beeld overigens!
Groeten,
Robert
Dank je Robert! Ik had inderdaad de verkeerde versie geupload. Nu een foto van de expo geplaatst.
