Had a fantastic weekend at the GDT international nature photography festival in Lünen, Germany. As always, the lectures by some of the biggest names in the industry were a wonderful source of inspiration and I got to talk to a lot of old friends and met several new ones.
A personal highlight for me was the fact that my image ‘autumn dream’ was awarded Highly Commended at the 2012 European Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, Plant and Fungi category. I am very proud and happy, because it is the third year in succession I am among the winners of this prestigious competition. The story behind this photograph appeared on this blog some two years ago and can be found here.
Congratulations to all other winners, especially this year’s huge Dutch delegation with Andrew George, Heike Odermatt, Theo Bosboom, Edwin Kats, Misja Smits, Jasper Doest, Paul van Hoof, Mees de Bruijne (twice) and Bart Siebelink (twice). All winning images can be found at the website of the GDT, http://gdtfoto.de. I can really recommend having a look as the standard of winning images was again very high. A perfect resource for some much needed inspiration!
